thanks to everybody who have been involved with testing build 1022. build 1023 is now available with many fixes, and your feedback has been very helpful in this matter.

please use only build 1023 for all testing purposes from this point forward, and keep communicating your experiences.

for crash bugs, it's vitally important that all reports include crash dump information, and have specific details on how the crash was provoked, like what you did, how many windows you had open, etc. the more specific you can be, the easier it is for us to examine the problem.

please reproduce the problem and pinpoint the method of how to reproduce it, before you file a report or post an article.

• codepage 932 (japanese shift-jis) removed from special handling of textout routines not needed because Japanese Windows handles western language perfectly as opposed to Chinese
• Fix in commit of SSL options
• fixed bug 57049, 64420 and 57721. Starting more than one instance of Opera on Win2k systems would crash.
• Bug fix for import from Netscape: Bookmarks with empty titles could damage the folder tree structure.
• Surrogates were produced incorrectly because of a bad bitmask. Correcting this fixes bug #64208.
• Security fix for loading of external images in mail and news
• Hard return in bookmark description fields was replaced with garbage instead of space as intended.
• plugged a serious memory leak that occured with certain gif anims where the last frame had the "remember and restore BG" flag set.

• We now add the currently selected button set from opera6.ini to the top of the button set list if it isn't there.
• fixed bug #65614:"No Search Engines Displayed In Preferences" side-effect: caused crash when opening new windows
• fixed bug 58828 filename collision would result in strange name
• fix for Alt-tab always restoring focus to menu bar on Win9x systems.
• Ctrl+Alt+A was seen as Ctrl+A in autocomplete fields (forms, address field) and this prevented the user to enter AltGr+A with Polish keyboard.
• fix for tooltips box being too small (visible on far eastern Win)
• attempt to fix a crash-on-exit bug when transfer window is visible
• fix for opera opening with 2 windows when in SDI mode and clicking a link in another app
• fix for popup progressbar covering parts of scrollbars.. it will now move out of the way again (same as in 5.x)
• tuned the smooth scrolling some more. now it is off by default; it is only recommended for systems with pretty fast cpu (>500mhz), but much more importantly, pretty fast gfx card (>=TNT2 etc)... and even in that case it is a matter of taste. Since we do not have any detection code for determining such fast setup or not we default to off to avoid users experiencing Opera as slower... (smooth scrolling will always mean that scrolling is indeed slower, but it's much easier on the eyes since there will be a transition effect towards the new position..)
• fixed RMB click on link context menu (weird fix)
• fixed a crash when starting with window setup containing pages with very long titles

• Changed priority to always be top-priority when new banners are loaded.
• Do not show click url for html banners.
• Do not force html banners to be loaded from cache.
• Added GuessCountry() method
• Changed tag-string generation according to new requirements.

[install]

• when installing to a new catalog we now migrate MSIE's proxy settings
• will no longer change buttons if set

[mail]

• fix for email folder names with missing last character on far eastern Windows InsertMenuItem_O did not set the length of the menu item name correctly
• Remove bcc header from mail before sending
• fixed bug 56078, not being able to reproduce the bug, but this should fix it. For those of you being able to reproduce the bug please test.

[script]

• Removed optimization that didn't quite work well.
